ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Benjamin van der Veen has collaborated with such celebrated filmmakers as Steven Soderberg, Benicio Del Toro, Ryan Phillipe, Julian Schnabel and Terrence Malick. His long-standing collaboration with Mr. Del Toro culminated in his writing the epic biopic Che, which premiered at the Festival du Film in Cannes and of which Cinematical Magazine wrote: "Bold, beautiful, bleak and brilliant… A piece of entertainment that delivers excitement, pathos and pure film making passion."  Mr. van der Veen adapted the hit non-fiction book Marching Powder for Don Cheadle, Plan B Entertainment and Reason Pictures. His most recent screenplay is in development with Michael London, Academy Award nominated producer of Sideways and Milk.  As well, Mr. van der Veen has lectured at UCLA and taught screenwriting at Northwestern University's NHSI program. He currently lives in Venice, California.
